Auf ein Mokka mit Sue - Slojtsch

Legendary beatboxer and rapper Murat (Murat & Jose) and rapper and author Andrej Murašov speak with host Suzan “Sue” Çakar about the beginnings of hip-hop culture in Slovenia—and about the connections that unfold between language, sound, and heritage.

Murat is one of the most influential voices in the Slovenian hip-hop scene: as part of one of the country’s most successful rap duos, he has played a key role in shaping the genre’s development. Partizan operates at the intersection of rap and literature. Both share a view of hip-hop as a cultural practice and a collective space.

Murat’s beatboxing will also be performed live. In keeping with the hip-hop credo “Each one teach one,” he will give kiosk visitors an introduction to his art: direct, physical, and accessible.

The Habibi Kiosk series “Auf einen Mokka mit Sue” profiles people who, through their work, open up social spaces and address questions of identity, belonging, and resistance.
