“The objects that carry us” – ein Workshop mit der Künstlerin Nofar Sela
Which object longs for you? An open workshop exploring objects as vessels of emotional and biographical significance.
Our lives are full of objects. We desire them, collect them, grow attached to them, are disappointed by them, and eventually throw them away. Sometimes they are proudly displayed in our homes; sometimes they lie forgotten in the storage room, gathering dust and longing for us. Some are disposable and interchangeable, passing through our lives without any attachment. Others are used daily, gradually wearing out, aging, and being replaced by newer versions. Some are unique and unmistakable, preserving memories, sounds, or scents that instantly remind us of a distant place or a specific person. When they break, they may also break our hearts.
Nofar Sela explores the physical and emotional qualities of objects and materials to create images and tell stories. In this workshop, she invites participants to bring their own objects and discover together the stories they wish to tell about us.
Throughout the workshop, we will explore the emotional and narrative power that objects hold within them. This will be done through one-on-one conversations, playful exercises, writing prompts, and personifications that bring to light the stories and feelings hidden within them. Finally, participants will develop their objects into a small installation that expresses identity and personal narrative in visual and material form. The workshop concludes with a discussion and group reflection, offering an opportunity to see how simple objects can become multifaceted, personal, and creative narratives.
