Back to school

What was it like back then at the Falckenberg? What does it mean today to be performing on the big stages or screens, or working in a completely different professional environment? With ‘Back to School’, we launched a discussion series last season in which OFS graduates from different cohorts return to the place where they trained and talk to Tim Bergmann, also a graduate (class of 1995), about their school days, careers, craft and art.

Our guests in May are Elizabeth Blonzen (graduated 1994) and Merlin Sandmeyer (graduated 2016), who was unable to attend in December due to illness.

Following her training, Elizabeth Blonzen has had numerous engagements at renowned theatres, appeared in numerous film and TV productions, and works as a guest lecturer.

During his training, Merlin Sandmeyer received the O. E. Hasse Prize for emerging actors from the Berlin Academy of Arts; he took up his first engagement at the Burgtheater in Vienna in 2016, moved to the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg in 2018/19, where he currently works as a permanent guest.
