Decamerone

War in Europe, floods and droughts brought on by climate change, a pandemic – Florence in the 14th century. The plague has the city firmly in its grip; people are dying, and public life is collapsing. A group of young men and women decide not to stand idly by and watch the misery unfold. They leave the city and retreat to a country estate, where they create their own little world for ten days. There they tell each other stories – sometimes cheerful, sometimes cheeky, sometimes thoughtful – and counter the darkness with imagination, wit and a zest for life.
