Suzan Çakar delves into a complex field of tension between mythology, spirituality, and visual poetry
His work ranges from visual art to material research and narrative imagery: in projects such as NeoRetro, Santiago Archila Salcedo explores pre-Columbian imagery. He translates this into contemporary contexts — combining analog craftsmanship, digital processes, and cultural translation. This evening, however, the Munich-based artist, designer, and filmmaker, who hails from Colombia, is a guest of talk show host Suzan “Sue” Çakar at Habibi Kiosk.
There is a lot to discuss: Among other things, Santiago was part of the FRÉMITO exhibition, in which his installation drawings and sculptural works unfolded a multi-layered field of tension between mythology, spirituality, and visual poetry. He understands his artistic practice as a process of remembering, transforming, and retelling cultural narratives.
In the informal atmosphere of the kiosk, Santiago provides insight into his work and career. He and “Sue” discuss how origin, material, and artistic thinking are interwoven. The result is a mocha conversation about art as a resonance space, about cultural imagination, and about storytelling beyond clear boundaries.
