Workshop with Daniel Door and Mira Mann
Intimacy Quarterly Playground is the workshop format of the performance and concert series Intimacy Quarterly. Here we explore the power of text and music—how they interact and can create new spaces.
Munich-based noise artist Daniel Door is responsible for the musical part in this episode.
Together with you, he builds a percussion robot setup. You can attach various objects to programmable cone electromagnets/solenoids and thus make them sound (rhythmically). You are completely free to choose your “instrument”: personal items, found objects, trash—your choice. The important thing is that it makes a sound when “played” by the little robots.
After a short break, Mira Mann will lead a session on automatic writing to the crackling, clattering basic beat of your robots. We let ourselves drift, never put down our pens, and joyfully relinquish control over the text output. From the resulting text material, we extract word constellations, claims, and micro stories, which we share with the group.
In the last part of the workshop, we set the texts to the beat and wrestle with their performative side.
Feel free to bring your objects to the workshop.
The number of participants is limited to 12, so please register at intimacy.quarterly@gmail.com.
You are also welcome to drop by for the joint session at 9:00 p.m. without registering.
