Die Odyssee

Young people now living in Munich connect the ancient tale of flight, separation, alienation, waiting and hope with their own personal stories. Here, the myth is not told from Odysseus’ point of view, but from the perspective of those left behind, the children who search, doubt and hope. They wander between worlds, are border crossers, travellers, modern nomads who have to constantly reassemble their identities. What does it mean to lose your home? To find yourself in between, dependent on the hospitality of others? What does it mean to be a stranger and not be seen for what you can do and what you bring to the table? ‘The Odyssey’ is a theatrical journey. The audience moves in groups from station to station and experiences ancient history anew – fragmentary, close, physical, multilingual and very personal.
