Duette und Falsette

Nele Jahnke and Hans-Jakob Mühlethaler engage in a sporting contest with opera duets together with the players. In three pairs of encounters, they work their way through the opera genre, its irresolvable contradictions and cascades of words.

The team engages in a performative exchange on the following questions: How can we liberate grand emotions from high culture, and should these emotions remain so grand? Are male villains from film and television role models? Or are they horrors? They sing about their differences and practise understanding. Disney meets farewell, pop meets conflict, and The Magic Flute meets love.

Different emotional classes, attitudes and views clash in the boxing ring and unfold new intersections in the music.
