Michel Friedman spricht mit Aladin El-Mafaalani – über Rassismus

In February, author, journalist, and philosopher Michel Friedman will discuss racism with Aladin El-Mafaalani in his series of talks at the Schauspielhaus theater.

Aladin El-Mafaalani, born in the Ruhr region in 1978, is a professor of migration and educational sociology at TU Dortmund University and part of the Collaborative Research Center “Production of Migration,” which is based at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at the University of Osnabrück. Previously, he was professor of education at the University of Osnabrück, professor of political science at the Münster University of Applied Sciences, and head of department at the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry for Children, Families, Refugees, and Integration in Düsseldorf. He has received numerous awards for his academic work, including the Prize for Public Impact from the German Sociological Association and the Federal Cross of Merit.

Aladin El-Mafaalani is the author and editor of numerous academic publications, including twelve books and numerous articles in journals, anthologies, and handbooks. He is one of the founders and editors of the Journal of Migration Research. Kiepenheuer & Witsch has already published four bestsellers: “Das Integrationsparadox” (The Integration Paradox, 2018), “Mythos Bildung” (The Myth of Education, (2020), “Wozu Rassismus?” (2021) and “Kinder – Minderheit ohne Schutz” (2025). Most recently, he published his new book “Misstrauensgemeinschaften” in November 2025.
