Sign language poetry workshop
Hearing and deaf people discover poetry together, explore and engage with verse. Sign language poetry is written down. Lines become signs. Language transforms into movement, words turn into images, and meanings begin to shine. An approach that combines art and language creates a space where hearing and deaf people can experiment together. This gives rise to a creative process in which texts are examined, interpreted and redesigned – visually, physically and rhythmically guided by deaf artists Kassandra Wedel and Nur Sera Beysun. Together, they create a form of poetry that transcends boundaries and shows how diverse language can be when it comes to life through physical expression and artistic encounters. The works created in the workshop will then be presented in the evening show. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their results on stage and share the creative process with the audience.
This workshop is part of the event series: Accessible Stories and Poetry
Language can be many things, for example: poetic, light, performative, complex, spoken, signed, in letters or Braille.
The Munich Kammerspiele and the Munich City Library invite you to an inclusive event series that brings this diversity of language to life.
On four evenings, authors and artists with and without disabilities will read, perform and sign stories and poetry.
We will enjoy the texts in a relaxed atmosphere with tasty snacks.
