“Laughter, Power, and Masks – Comedy as a Mirror”
Comedy is never just light entertainment. It reflects how closely laughter is linked to power, morality, and identity. Those who laugh recognize their own weaknesses and convictions, which become visible in comedy. At the same time, comedy exposes the masks and roles we wear and transforms deception into insight. Identity becomes negotiable, the body an expression of freedom. Especially in times of crisis, laughter asserts itself as a strategy of endurance and as silent resistance against powerlessness. And because comedy reveals so much, it is one of the most demanding forms of theater: it requires precision, courage, and a sense of the delicate balance between lightness and abyss. In this way, it opens up spaces in which we encounter ourselves—critically, playfully, and freely.
