Open call: Operation Operette!

Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich in collaboration with MK: Mitmachen & MK: Musik

Big stage! Big drama! Weird singing?! — What can musical theater look like? What narrative forms are possible between timpani, trumpets, text, and songs?

We would like to develop a new musical theatre piece together with you, from the initial idea to the performance on stage at the Münchner Kammerspiele!

We are looking for theatre-loving writers and composers aged 15-19.

In weekly meetings and workshops, with the help of theatre and music experts from the Münchner Kammerspiele, we will write and compose a piece together, which will be performed in spring 2027 by the musicians of the Jewish Chamber Orchestra and a specially assembled ensemble. The writers and composers are welcome to perform on stage, but this is not a requirement.

The working languages are German and English, and participation is free of charge.

What we offer:

· Backstage & Front Row: We’ll go out together and check out the most awesome concerts and shows by JCOM and MK to find inspiration right at the source.

· Workshops & mentoring: No classroom atmosphere, just creative exchange. Well-known actresses, directors and composers will coach you and work directly with you on your material.

· The real deal: Experience the goosebump moment when your scores and texts are brought to life by professionals and presented on one of Munich’s most important stages.

· Theatre life: Lots of fun, sweat and a real spotlight feeling. Those who want to can go on stage themselves – those who prefer to pull the strings behind the scenes can stay behind the scenes.

We look forward to seeing you!
