Open call: Operation Operette!

Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich in collaboration with MK: Mitmachen & MK: Musik

Big stage! Big drama! Weird singing?! — What can musical theater look like? What narrative forms are possible between timpani, trumpets, text, and songs?

We would like to develop a new musical theater piece together with you, from the initial idea to the performance on stage at the Münchner Kammerspiele!

We are looking for theater-loving writers and composers aged 15-18.

In weekly meetings and workshops, with the help of theater and music experts from the Münchner Kammerspiele, we will write and compose a piece together, which will be performed in spring 2027 by the musicians of the Jewish Chamber Orchestra and a specially assembled ensemble. The writers and composers are welcome to perform on stage, but this is not a requirement.

The working languages are German and English, and participation is free of charge. Composers must already have some experience in composing and, ideally, a letter of recommendation from a music teacher. For authors, enthusiasm for storytelling and writing is sufficient.

We look forward to seeing you!

When and where:

Wednesdays 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Münchner Kammerspiele
January 21 to July 22

Apply with:

– Name, date of birth, and school
– Address and telephone number
– For composition: an example of your own musical composition as a PDF, recording, or MIDI file

Applicants should be attending school and not yet studying at university.
