Food on plates and plates for eating. Our moderated munching with music brings the year to a close.
Even experts in the field are constantly amazed: there seems to be a record on every topic in the world—including the most important topic of all, food. Our (self-proclaimed) vinyl culinarians Christos Davidopoulos and Sebastian Reier have collected many of these records. The former has been behind the counter of the famous Optimal record store in Munich’s Glockenbach district for over forty years. He is one of eight people who attended Nirvana’s first concert in Germany. His record collections are scattered throughout the city. He hasn’t seen the inside of one for years (he misplaced the key). And he has so much vinyl that there is bound to be something edible among it. Our music dramaturge munches and moderates to his left, because he himself is a vinyl collector in the final stages.
And it’s not just vinyl that’s being served up, we’re actually dining. What’s playing isn’t necessarily on the plate: concept albums, songs about potato salad, sushi, or bean soup, crazy album covers, and numerous anecdotes unfold a variety of tastes.
Anna Jäger knows all about how food is part of an identity-shaping environment: she is one of our favorite authors, whom we have never been able to invite. Her debut novel is entitled “Ganz normale Tage – Geschichten von Träumen und Traumata” (Perfectly Normal Days – Stories of Dreams and Traumas) and tells of growing up as a Greek-German. The Bremen native writes about this in such a lively way that boredom is impossible for hours on end. As you might expect, her stories are inseparable from food. She reads and talks between meals. She also talks to Fadime Gültekin. Everyone just calls her “Fadi.” Until recently, she didn’t know that she was a living legend in Ingolstadt. Her colleagues at the Ingolstadt City Theater recognized this and accepted her into their city ensemble. Because Fadi has studied life where it takes place — for example, while eating. She is also the best YouTuber with a forklift — even without video. That’s a sentence that leaves questions unanswered. We understand that. But on a pre-Christmas evening, we can talk about it. Dressed as a roving reporter, Gina Penzkofer flits from table to table to collect your voices.
