Playlist V

The text marathon begins the afternoon before the ‘Long Night for New Drama’. The Institute of Theatre Studies at LMU and HMTM present the fifth edition of ‘Playlist’, the writers’ workshop for drama and opera, in cooperation with the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Otto Falckenberg Schule and the Bayerische Staatsoper and in collaboration with the directing course at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding and HMTM.

This year’s edition of this unique nationwide cooperation between universities and theatres is dedicated to political and intimate issues of the past, present and future in a thoughtful and playful way. Students of theatre studies at LMU will develop new one-act plays and libretti with students of composition at HMTM. They will be staged by students from Prof. Sebastian Baumgarten’s directing class at the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding. The resulting seven works reflect the unbiased view of a young generation. The mentor of this year’s writers’ workshop is the Munich bestselling playwright Nora Abdel-Maksoud. The resulting plays will be shown on the LMU’s studio stage.
