The Jewish festival of Shavuot memorializes the moment of „Matan Torah“ (the giving of the Torah), when deeply ingrained knowledge entered the human consciousness. Come sundown it’s tradition to collectively share knowledge until late in the night. We stay awake to learn from and debate each other.

This Shavuot, House of Diaspora is inviting everyone, Jews and Non-Jews, to become part of this collective and to turn the Münchner Kammerspiele into a place of learning from Jews.

In the Jewish year of 5785 we spend the whole night on – instead of in front of – the stage, which will be turned into a place of meeting and movement, with rugs, pillows and a tea kitchen, in a reference to Mizrachi and Sephardic Jewish cultures.

The artists will work with the audience in an immersive manner. One can, observe, participate or just listen.

PART I 17-19:30 pm.: Performance, concert, workshop*
L’kolech Hashmi’ini | Let Me Hear Your Voice
A Shavuot Night Journey with Victoria Hanna

Victoria Hanna, internationally acclaimed vocal artist, is coming especially from Yerushalayim to Munich to share a unique journey of voice, vibration, sacred language and mystical resonance.

Victoria’s work bridges ancient Kabbalistic texts, Hebrew letters, and contemporary sound art. In her performances, installations, and research, the Torah is not only a text to be read – it is a living body of knowledge, constantly renewing, calling for dialogue with the unknown.

During this special night, Victoria will perform live vocal pieces and will also lead participants in interactive vocal practices and listening exercises, exploring how voice can be a gateway to inspiration, inner wisdom, and collective resonance.

This is a night of preparation for Tikkun Leil Shavuot – an invitation to listen, to open, to receive, and to express.

PART II 20:00-21:30 pm.: Installation, performance, workshop*
ADAMA: Secret Life of Stones
With Shlomi Moto Wagner

Inspired by the concept of Westfailure: the failure of the economic, social and environmental aspects of the nation states – Shlomi Moto Wagner spent time next to the whispering winds of the Ramon Crater in the Israeli desert, to tell the story and songs of the rocks, stones and the ancient, solidified life of the desert.

For the third time the House of Diaspora moves into the Münchner Kammerspiele. House of Diaspora is a series of performances by the Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik, which translates customs, rites and traditions of the Jewish festival calendar into a contemporary context. House of Diaspora focuses on the diversity of Jewish life in the German diaspora and makes possible the transfer of mostly unknown Jewish knowledge, interpretations and cultures.

An event by the Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik in cooperation with the Münchner Kammerspielen.

*The workshops are conducted verbally in English. Much takes place without language or through gestures, voice and sound. Quiet help may be given to each other to translate.
Breaks are included in the timetable.
