Demo Ke Pelê Gozan Benî Zer (When the Walnut Leaves turn Yellow)
Opening & film screening followed by a talk with the director
A village chief and his son in northern Kurdistan, caught up in an impressive coming-of-age drama. Ciwan, a modest family man, lives in a constant state of tension between control and resistance. While his 14-year-old son Feyzi questions the world around him, he has no idea that his father’s time is running out. Mehmet Ali Konar combines realism and magic in a moving father-son portrait.
The Kurdish Film Festival Munich 2025 will take place this year from 30.5.25 to 2.6.2025 at the Kammerspiele and Gasteig HP8. It presents a diverse selection of films about the history, culture and current issues of the Kurdish community. Feature films, documentaries, short films and a children’s program with Prix Jeunesse will be shown.
The films deal with political conflicts, impossible love stories, environmental changes for women, the genocide of the Yazidis and the life of the Kolbars on the borders. After some of the films, there will be discussions and Q&A sessions for in-depth exploration.
For the first time, there will be a children’s programme with educational films from Prix Jeunesse, an international organization that promotes high-quality children’s programmes.
The Kurdish Film Days Munich 2025 create a platform for exchange and discussion about the diverse stories and challenges of the Kurdish community.
