Steve Coleman became famous in the 1980s when the M-Base Collective caused a sensation in the music world. The crew he founded mixed large portions of funk and hip-hop into jazz and produced a future superstar in Cassandra Wilson. The artists associated with M-Base all released on the Munich record label JMT. The American saxophonist, spontaneous composer, bandleader and music theorist continues to push the boundaries. And a fantastic instrumentalist who will be presenting one of his gripping solos this evening. We will listen to Steve Coleman’s spontaneous compositions, while the Beautiful Formula Collective with Alina Sokulska and Víctor Aicua will complete a rich oeuvre of painting, dance performance and music.
