Munich's exceptional musician plays music against despots for mixed trautonium and voice and presents a new album
The Album Release Show
With his new album, Peter Pichler brings the fascinating sound world of a rarely heard instrument to the stage. In the 1920s, it wrote music history as the forerunner of the synthesizer. The mixturtrautonium is a further development of the trautonium invented by Friedrich Trautwein. The sound of its sub-harmonic frequencies sounds between past and future. Oskar Sala brought it into Hitchcock’s film music, Peter Pichler keeps it in the present, in all its facets. On his second album of classical repertoire for mixed trautonium, he concentrates on works for mixed trautonium and voice. The renowned soprano Melanie Dreher will accompany Pichler live. The album contains works by Hindemith, Genzmer, Dessau and Purcell, as well as first recordings of pieces not previously released on tape. Some of these works will be premiered on this evening. Like the cycle “The Seven Deadly Sins - The Seven Virtues”. Here, Pichler combines baroque theories of affect with modern soundscapes. Between electronic avant-garde and expressive emotion, a musical panorama unfolds that artfully combines timbral melodies, textures and dramatic effects.
“Ins Nichts mit ihm - Music against Depots for Mixturtrautonium and Voice” is published by NEOS, Munich.
