Open rehearsal ahead of the textile sound convention “Sharper Than A Needle”
When the carpet shaver dances to the beat of the synthesizer sewing machine, the fluffy Habibi Kiosk starts to sting. On February 14, there will be a small foretaste of “Sharper Than A Needle”, a textile sound convention that will premiere a little later in the Therese-Giehse-Halle of the Münchner Kammerspiele (November 23, 2025, 7:00 pm).
Karen Modrei, Lisa Simpson aka Agente Costura, Stefan Wischnewski, Klaus Erika Dietl and Stephanie Müller (beißpony/ SEWICIDE/ ALLIGATOR GOZAIMASU) will use their textile machines to weave a tapestry of sound that combines sound art with experimental pop. The five-piece ensemble brings together artists who research the interface between textile art, fashion and sound art. The open rehearsal gives interested parties the opportunity to get up close and personal with the multi-layered textile and sound cosmos. The participating artists will provide insights into their research process. The common thread is reinforced. Modified sewing utensils and haberdashery can be made to sound.
