We all have to search for the right words. And it challenges us – whether in personal conversations, in public or when talking about political issues. The author and director Dîlan Z. Çapan has a special connection to the Kammerspiele. She has already worked at our theater as artistic director of the Habibi Kiosk. She is currently presenting the Literatur*Raum series. In this work, which was developed at the UNIVERSEN of Schauspiel Hannover and can now be seen as a guest performance at the Kammerspiele, she poses both universal and particular questions about the limits of what can be said: How does one describe catastrophes whose effects cannot actually be grasped with language? What does it mean to miss a language with which one came into the world?

The evening will be accompanied by the musician Dîlan Top. The themes and feelings that Dîlan Z. Çapan deals with in her text resonate in Kurdish music. Many of the questions concern Kurds in particular due to global oppression and the partial denial of their identity. Kurdish culture, especially its music and dances as its most important forms of expression, are therefore not only music and dance for Kurds, but also always an expression of resistance. So this evening is not least about the transformative power of expression and about resilience and joy – no matter how sobering the circumstances.
