Fascination with alcohol, sex, racism and Bavaria.

“Mia san Mia” explores the themes of social identity, belonging, home and their connection. Director and performer Tamira Kalmbach takes the audience on a journey through her biography.

We get to know the life of a young Black woman who moves to Bavaria to study in 2015. From then on, her life is characterized by everyday racism, identity crises and the feeling of being out of place. But then: the Oktoberfest! And with it: codes and rituals that she also understands. And which make you belong. Right?

„Prost ihr Säcke!“ – „Prost du Sack!“ (“Cheers, you sacks!” – “Cheers, you sack!”)

Gradually, we descend together further and further into the customs, mysteries and truths of the Oktoberfest and thus of the state of Bavaria, and a game begins between performer and audience. A game that is repeatedly interrupted by her own personal stories. Who can take more? Who shouts the loudest? Who refuses and who secretly knows the lyrics to “Layla” or “Olivia” by heart?

Fascination with alcohol, sex, racism and Bavaria – together we deconstruct the Oktoberfest and create something new.
