SISSY3000X: The Small Liberty

A queer late-night show

First broadcast: 12/12/2020, 20:00

In recent years, an initiative of the Münchner Kammerspiele ensemble has created a queer performance series in various formats, which has regularly undergone changes of form and cast: WUSS. As of the 20–21 season, under the artistic direction of Keith Zenga King, WUSS is reinventing itself under a new name: SISSY3000X.

At irregular intervals during this season, SISSY3000X will transform the Kammerspiele into a queer cabaret. In doing so, it draws inspiration from the legendary spirit of the Kleine Freiheit: the Munich cabaret theatre with which its founders, Trude Kolman and Erich Kästner, made a vital contribution to the development of Munich’s postwar cabaret.

SISSY3000X taps into this history in order to create queer geographies of resistance with the ‘modest hope’ of awakening greater imaginative power for the counter-narrative of the future. In dark times for queer nightlife, caught between coronavirus regulations and empty halls, SISSY3000X will initially relocate its opening to the digital realm and become a special kind of late-night show.
