Yuka Yanagihara

Yuka Yanagihara began her vocal training at the University of Art and Music in Okinawa, Japan, and subsequently moved to Berlin to attend the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music. She sang the great soprano roles of the opera repertoire from Pamina to Mimí, from Donna Elvira to Micaela. For some years she has cooperated with various directors, such as Florian Lutz and Sven Holm as well as with theaters in projects which take the genre of opera beyond the narrow boundaries of convention. She also collaborates regularly with the Neuköllner Oper. Yuka Yanagihara frequently works with the Hungarian music theater director David Marton. She appeared as “Lulu” at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and played in his production of “Don Giovanni. Keine Pause” at the sophiensaele as well as in his staging of “Rheingold” in Dresden.

Marton’s production of “La Sonnambula” will be her debut performance at the Münchner Kammerspiele during the 2015/16 season.
