Ingken Benesch

Ingken Benesch was born in Stuttgart in 1965 and grew up in Northern Germany. Already early on she developed a strong passion for clothes, fabrics and their production. After pursuing Scandinavian studies for several years she underwent training as a dressmaker as preparation for her post-graduate studies. From 1995 to 2001 she studied fashion design at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. From 1999 to 2003 she managed the fashion label HOTEL in cooperation with designer Kai Dünhölter. HOTEL was an internationally marketed, high-end fashion label. Its conceptual design was characterised by a clash between elements of sportswear and avant-garde fashion. As part of this label and Ingken Benesch’s ensuing creative activities, she participated in shows as well as competitions and collaborated with artists such as Die Goldenen Zitronen, Studio Braun, She She Pop, Jonathan Meese and Daniel Richter. Since 2003 Ingken Benesch has worked as costume designer for music videos, performances and commercials, since 2005 also increasingly for art house films and movies.
