Bendix Dethleffsen


Bendix Dethleffsen, born in Flensburg in 1978, studied conducting at the Cologne University of Music. During his studies he worked as assistant to Ingo Metzmacher at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and conducted together with him Luigi Nono’s “Prometeo – Tragedia dell’ascolto” (Ensemble Modern Orchestra, Lucerne Festival 2001). In Hamburg he conducted several productions within the series “Junges Forum Musiktheater”. From 2001 to 2006 Bendix Dethleffsen worked as solo coach and director of music at the Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen; from 2007 to 2009 he performed this function at the Staatstheater Kassel. He conducted numerous opera and ballet performances. Dethleffsen works at the interface of theater and music; he serves as musical director, conductor and pianist. Since 2006 he has closely collaborated with Christoph Marthaler. He also works for and with Johan Simons, Anna-Sophie Mahler, Christoph Homberger, Jan Czajkovski, René Pollesch, Christiane Pohle, Benedikt von Peter and Philipp Stölzl.

At the Münchner Kammerspiele he collaborated in Johan Simon’s productions “Winterreise” (2011) as well as “E la nave va” (2011), and other plays.
