Annabelle Witt, born in Hamburg in 1966, studied fashion design and then worked as freelance costume designer at the Deutsche Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Burgtheater Wien, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Opéra de Lyon, the Zürich Festivals, the Theater Basel and the Deutsche Theater Berlin. In 2000 and 2008 the magazine “Theater heute” elected her “Costume Designer of the Year”. She has repeatedly been invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen.
In addition to cooperation with directors such as Christoph Marthaler, Stefan Bachmann and Antú Romero Nunes, she has entered into a close artistic relationship with Stefan Pucher since 2005, which repeatedly brought them together at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Here she created the costume designs for his productions of “The Tempest” (2007), “Maß für Maß” (2009) as well as most recently “Die Zofen” (2014).
