The pathology of normal life

“Warum läuft Herr R. Amok?” on January 14 at 6 pm

In his films Rainer Werner Fassbinder has always been fascinated by the pathology of normal life. In this film, produced in cooperation with Michael Fengler in 1970, the search is taken to extremes. “Why does Herr R. run Amok?” is the story of an average man who does everything that is expected of him in every area of his life. In doing so he loses himself. A vague and unspoken aggression begins to grow secretly in this void. It is directed against a world determined by prejudice, frustration and gossip. Through a series of disappointments and small defeats, Fassbinder shows how everyday life turns into hell, how the little man in the street becomes a monster who in the end and to the utter surprise of everyone around him destroys first his family and then himself.

On January 14, “Warum läuft Herr R. Amok?”, directed by Susanne Kennedy, is shown at 6 pm. Tickets are available HERE.
