„The Virgin Suicides“ on March 3
Susanne Kennedy, the director of „Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt“ and „Warum läuft Herr R. Amok?“, returns to the Münchner Kammerspiele. In „The Virgin Suicides“, she continues to pursue her strategy of voice-over technique and explores the male gaze that the Lisbon girls are exposed to from the perspective of the boys who are by now aged men. Long into their old age, the story of the five daughters of the Lisbon family haunts these men and they reconstruct the details from their memories, as the question of their deaths hangs over them, while the audience share their voyeuristic gaze and embark on a journey of recollection and awareness: „You are now to begin a great adventure, a journey out of your mind.“ (Timothy Leary).
