Open Call: Writing Residency All Abled Arts

Who can apply?

Do you enjoy writing plays for the theatre?

Are you a person with different learning needs?

If so, you can apply for our call for applications.

You will receive 4,000 euros for the writing residency.

And accommodation in Munich for a few weeks.

Here, you will write a new play.

How can you apply?

Would you like to apply?

Then please send us:

A text you have already written
An idea for a new play
Your CV with your telephone number or email address
Does someone support you in your work?
If so, please also send us that person’s telephone number or email address.

Please note:

The text, idea and CV must be in German or English.
The original text may also be in another language.
Please send only one finished text and one idea.
Do not send multiple texts.
You can also send us your CV as a voice message.
Please send us the files by email.
Please let us know if you have any special requirements so that you can work effectively and feel at home in Munich.
Assistance will be paid for separately. Please discuss this with us if required.

Who selects the winner?

A jury selects the winner.

The word ‘jury’ is pronounced ‘shuri’.

How does the writing residency work?

The winner will be provided with accommodation in Munich.

There, they will write a new play.

Regular meetings will take place with the Münchner Kammerspiele.

At the end, the play will be performed.

It doesn’t matter if the play is completely finished by then.

The performance will take place in June 2027

at the Long Night of New Drama

at the Münchner Kammerspiele.

There will be the chance to win the audience prize of 2,000 euros.

What are the dates?

3 June 2026: Applications are open until this date.
Mid-July 2026: The winner will be selected.
Spring 2027: The winner
will be provided with accommodation in Munich
and will write the new play.
June 2027: The new play will be performed at the Long Night
of New Drama in Munich.
The winner will have the chance to win the audience award there.
