Parents Wanted!

Are you expecting a child, or have you become a mother or father in the last two years? Then join the latest artistic experiment, “Becoming Data,” by the multi-award-winning group Laokoon!

In their theater performance “Becoming Data,” which will be presented at the Münchner Kammerspiele during the 26/27 season, artists Laura Andreß, Cosima Terrasse, and Moritz Riesewieck explore the influence of digital data and artificial intelligence on a person’s birth and early childhood.

What does it mean that parents today can get advice in a matter of seconds from search engines, baby apps, and AI bots on every conceivable question regarding their children? What do parents’ Google searches, their conversations with ChatGPT, or the location data from their smartphones reveal about a child’s pregnancy, birth, and early years? And where do these data-driven narratives reach their limits?

So far, very few of us have memories of the first two to three years of our lives. But what will it be like for people born today who, as adults, will have access to entire databases full of photos and videos from their early childhood, their parents’ chats and Google searches, and much more digital data? Will they be able to understand in the future how they became the adults they are today?
